Members of the Scarsdale Police Department received a report from a Hutchinson Avenue resident on Wednesday, Dec. 19, who said that she feels that an unknown party entered her parent’s home. Police noted that the complainant is now the owner of the home, since her parents have both died.
Police said that the homeowner found two Bud Light cans on the property, which did not belong to her. While canvassing the house, investigators found several dark smudges on walls that had recently been painted. Two rooms on the top floor were also disturbed.
According to investigators, several paintings were stolen from the first room, and several items were taken from the second, including things from a dresser drawer, which was left open. Several paintings in bubble wrap were taken out of a box in the attic. In the basement, two chandeliers were stolen and several items from the garage were taken. A dining room set, power washer and gas-powered blower were also stolen.
Investigators noted that there was no sign of forced entry into the home, which remains for sale. The incident remains under investigation.
